November 2018 in our Gallery:

Hannah van Adrichem and Libby Oliver

Our November exhibit, Alterations, is part of MAKESHIFT Contemporary Textiles Festival, November 9–11, 2018.

This exhibition opens on Friday, Nov. 2nd, 7:00–9:00 PM
Artist talk: Saturday, November 11th, 1:30–2:30 PM
Exhibition runs through Sunday, November 18th, 2018

Alterations explores the genealogy of textiles as objects, medium, and symbol, creating a coherent theme through the shared use of second-hand fabrics. Photographic works exploring people's relationships to their clothing, and stretched, abstracted textile compositions are shown together to create a dialogue surrounding our relationship with fabric. The exhibition consists primarily of wall-hung two-dimensional works and some sculptural objects made from stretched textiles arranged throughout the space.

Xchanges gratefully acknowledges the financial support of the Capital Regional District Arts Committee through the municipalities of Victoria, Saanich, Oak Bay, Esquimalt, View Royal, Metchosin, Highlands, and Sidney.
