Louise Monfette
Opening: Friday, February 8, 2008 from 5 to 8 p.m.
This show runs from February 8 to 24, 2008

Mixed media works by Louise Monfette reflect on personal, secular and religious symbols of making amends and reconciliation. Inspiration is drawn from diverse sources including songs by Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen and the artist’s catholic background.
Her images connote confinement, pain, glory, redemption and joy. An important element is selecting the materials that evoke these messages. Rich colours and gold leaf are juxtaposed with metal and nails.
The artist is interested in the interplay between that which is attractive, yet menacing.
