You Can Cry in Front of Me

Xchanges Gallery is excited to announce the opening on November 3, 2023 of Rebecca Fux’s solo exhibition, You Can Cry in Front of Me.

This exhibition explores the emotional bonds that develop between young women as they deal with trauma, misogyny, sexual harassment, and sexual assault. This series serves as an ode to healing, empathy, and the strength women channel within themselves and each other.

About the Artist

Rebecca Fux is an artist born in Vernon, B.C., now living and working on the unceded traditional territory of the W̱SÁNEĆ and lək̓ wəŋən peoples. At the age sixteen Rebecca received of the 2019 Youth Artist in Residency Program at the Vernon Community Arts Centre. There, she connected with local artists and gained the opportunity to paint a mural for the Vernon Public Art Gallery. After receiving the 2020 Helen Pitt Fund Award, and with the encouragement of her community she made the decision to pursue a BFAhons at the University of Victoria.

Now twenty, Rebecca works primarily in oil paint and drawing mediums to contemplate the intricacies of personal relationships.

Friday, November 3, 2023, from 7 – 9 p.m.

Gallery hours:

Open every weekend from Saturday, November 4 until Sunday, November 19 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
