Charting Change
April 5 to 21, 2024
Charting Change, emerging from the lived experience of a near drowning, is a visual analogy of the increasingly turbulent time in which we live. The watery images are blurred between abstract and representational; either deeply under water or adrift on the surface. Each piece has its own narrative, raises its own questionsโand inspires contemplation on the future of our oceans.
Charting Change is an exhibition of recent works by Kathi Thompson.

About the Artist
Kathi Thompson is an interdisciplinary artist living in Victoria, BC.
Over her 30 year career, Thompson has been invited into juried exhibitions across Canada and in Europe. Her works are in the permanent collections of regional art galleries, government offices, and private collections.
A distinguishing aspect of Thompson’s work is her penchant for moving from painting on a canvas and papers, to incorporating an exploration of sculptural forms. She combines materials that don’t seemingly connect: nature’s flotsam and jetsam washed ashore, everyday waste materials and clays.
With her recurring emphasis on the human impact , Thompson’s work inspires contemplation on the current state of our oceans and concern for the future.
