Migratory Metamorphosis
March 3 – 19, 2023
Xchanges Gallery is thrilled to announce the opening on March 3, 2023 of Saroop Soofi’s solo exhibition, Migratory Metamorphosis.
Migratory Metamorphosis is a celebration of multiculturalism and hybridity, both in form and content. Through her artwork, Soofi addresses notions of the binary implications of migration, home and identity, the role of memory and nostalgia, and how the imagination processes profound dislocation.
Concerned with the complexities of Otherness, and with cultural violences, she attempts to enrich her body of work by reflecting on Punjabi cultural forms, and the dynamics of its sociocultural and political relationships which are of great importance to women in British Columbia’s Punjabi-Canadian community.
Opening night:
Friday, March 3 from 7 – 9 pm
Gallery hours:
Every weekend from Saturday, March 4 until Sunday, March 19 from 11 am – 4 pm
