Gina Luke – Laughing in the Dark

Xchanges Gallery and Studios is excited to present Gina Luke’s new installation, Laughing in the Dark. The show opens on Friday, January 29th at 7pm (non social) and on weekends until February 14th from 11am-4pm.

Many of you will recall that Gina worked in the Gallery last summer where she was developing new video installation concepts – you can read her interesting blog post “Synthetic Practice” which explains how she was “reinterpreting her recent and archived media works within the changing outlook of Covid-19″.

In this exhibition Gina writes that “for the context of this exhibition the pseudo-natural can be defined as the synthetic alteration and imitation of natural elements, matter and phenomenon. The works in the exhibition gently traverse the rift between the urban and natural environment, providing a dynamic setting where light and textures from the synthetic and the organic are amalgamated into one to form pseudo-natural projections.”

For complete information about the exhibition and visiting the gallery, please see the What’s On page and the Artist’s page here.

Xchanges gratefully acknowledges the support of the Capital Regional District in support of our Gallery program.
