Xchanges is thrilled to announce another GREAT SUMMER PRINT MAKING WORKSHOP!

Learn how to monoprint with Cindy Wright, accomplished printmaker and long-time Xchanges studio member. Learners will get their first introduction to this exciting field of printmaking and those with experience will get to expand their knowledge with some new techniques. New or experienced, everyone will create beautiful prints.

Day 1 focuses on using  still life, botanicals and abstracts. Artists will practise their line and mark making on a variety of paper with different inks and application techniques. On day 2, colour and the use of nori-paste to mount lighter weight papers onto heavier printmaking stock will be explored.

Many of these techniques can be accomplished without a press, but a press will be available to make it all a bit easier.

The learning goals are:

  • Learn different methods for applying ink to plates/papers and how each technique varies depending on ink type, paper type and mark applied.
  • Learn how to be loose with your work and just to let the ink do its’ thing.
  • Find out how to use colour, both glazing transparency and bold block applications.
  • Be introduced to the use of nori paste as a means of creating chine collés and incorporating colour.

When:

Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day
