FREE Culture Days 2020 Event: Contemporary Chinese Brush Painting Demo with Andy Lou

Join us for an exciting live demonstration of Contemporary Chinese Brush Painting with Andy Shutse Lou! This is a FREE event celebrating Culture Days 2020.

Xchanges Artists’ Gallery and Studios is excited to present an introductory DEMONSTRATION of Contemporary Chinese Brush Painting for people interested in seeing the classic oriental painting process. Both traditional and contemporary techniques of Chinese Brush Painting will be presented. Through this demonstration you will see the materials used, compositions designed and the aesthetic principles of Chinese Brush Painting.

Andy Shutse Lou, MFA Andy Lou is a renowned working artist in Victoria, B.C., born in China and educated in the United States. He holds a Master of Fine Arts, University of North Texas. He has been offering Contemporary Chinese Brush Painting Workshops across Canada, the U.S. and China.

Andy blends the old and the new to forge a contrast between ink and colour, between the ancient traditions of Chinese painting and the rapidly-changing world of Western art. Andy’s paintings have been exhibited and collected worldwide and have received numerous awards. Andy is also a writer and co-author of four books on Chinese Brush Painting.
