Dwellings, a place of residence; a space stuck in thought.
Using oil paint, a predominantly male centred medium, this body of work explores the historically permanent nature of women in relation to the home and the spaces that hold that history.

Friday, June 7, 2024, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Gallery hours:
Continues every weekend from Saturday, June 8 until Sunday, June 23 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
About the Artist
Zaida Gerritsen is a visual artist living and working in Victoria, B.C. on unceded territory of the Lekwungen-speaking peoples. Working with the traditional mediums of oil paint and wood-working, her practice explores the tensions between depictions of domestic environments and the reality of those who existed within them.ย
Gerritsen holds a BFA. (Hons), in Visual Art from the University of Victoria and has been the recipient of awards and scholarships for her efforts in developing her art practice. Gerritsenโs work has been featured in many local group and juried shows as well as a recent solo exhibition at the Victoria International Airport.
