Campbell reconfigures icons from the history of the slave trade into intricate mandalas, decontextualizing these heavily loaded motifs and re-presenting them as objects for meditation. This metaphorical journey examines appropriate responses to personal challenges as well as historical and cultural trauma. The resultant images are meditations on beauty, essays in symmetry and chaos, detailed illusionism and abstract patterns.
