In this joint exhibit Garth Rankin and Maria Tarasoff use photography to explore landscapes both real and imagined.
Garth Rankin uses infrared film to capture “a landscape of spaces and places that speak to seduction and desire, of magic and rhythm, a landscape where trees can dance and sunlight floats in the branches.”
Maria Tarasoff uses macro-photography and large format printing to create images that are almost painterly in quality. In her work “discoloured rust spots become a field from a romantic childhood memory” and allude to her own fascination with exploring landscape on a philosophical level.
