Xchanges is excited to announce that we will be participating in BC Culture Days 2026, running from September 18th to October 4th, with a variety of exhibitions and events!
Xchanges will be featuring two artists in the gallery through September and October: Lance Olsen and Seven Embury. As well, Xchanges is also excited to also be offering a Free Life Drawing session together with an Open Studios on Saturday, September 26th.
All events will be free to attend; attendees will have the option of leaving a small donation in support of the gallery. Xchanges exhibitions are open to the public from 11am to 4pm on weekends; see our schedule for specific opening dates and times.
Featured Artists During Culture Days 2026
Lance Olsen
September 4th to 20th, 2026
Open during BC Culture Days on Saturday and Sunday, September 19th and 20th, from 11am to 4pm
For over 60 years Victoria-based artist Lance Austin Olsen has been creating a captivating body of artwork that spans painting, printmaking, and even sound. At 83 years old, Olsen has barely slowed down, and will be presenting a collection of his recent visual works in a solo exhibition at Xchanges Gallery through September.

Seven Embury, The Standard
October 2nd to 18th, 2026
Opening reception: Friday, October 2nd, 2026, 7 to 9 pm
Open during BC Culture Days on Saturday and Sunday, October 3rd and 4th, from 11am to 4pm
Seven Embury examines the pressures surrounding male body image and the ways society shapes ideals of masculinity through pop culture and social media. Through painting and sound, the show explores how external voices and cultural scripts impose themselves on the body, creating tension between acceptance and self-worth.

Free Life Drawing at Xchanges
Saturday, September 26th, 9:30 to 11:30 am
Join us at Xchanges for a Free Life Drawing session with a live model. This is a 18+ event; minors 15 and up can attend with parental/adult supervision.
In person only. Attendance will be limited so pre-registration via Eventbrite is encouraged. Doors open at 9am; please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before the start time.
Open Studios at Xchanges
Saturday, September 26th, 12 noon to 4 pm
Take a behind the scenes look at Xchanges, meet the studio artists, and see what they are creating. Studio artists will have work on display along with drawings from the life drawing session in the morning. Small works will be available for purchase, along with demonstrations and works-in-progress.
Drop by Xchanges anytime between 12 pm to 4 pm.

Xchanges Gallery is located behind the former Greggโs Furniture building at 2333 Government Street. The main gallery space is located on the second floor of the building and accessed exclusively by 2 flights of stairs with a landing. Unfortunately, there is no lift available and our location is not accessible to wheelchair users or other people with limited mobility. We apologize for the inconvenience.
There is on-site parking (limited during regular business hours). There are protected bike lanes on Government Street, as well as unprotected bike lanes on Bay Street. There is bike storage and with lock ups behind the main gate. Xchanges to close to the #10 via Bay Street, and the #70, 71, 72, and 95 Blink RapidBus service via Douglas Street.
There are two single-occupancy washrooms located adjacent to the gallery.
