Curious Constructions exhibits a series of paintings and sculptural works that explore formal possibilities as they relate to their own construction. The visual rhetoric of the paintings is reflected in the sculptures, opening up a dialogue between the two disciplines and expressing a creative exploration of colour, form and material.

Artist’s Bio
Originally from Piedmont, California, Austin Willis has been interested in the arts since 2011. In 2015 he moved to Victoria to pursue a Bachelors in Fine Arts at the University of Victoria. During his schooling, his work has developed significantly, shifting into large scale abstracts, sculpture, and installation. As an emerging artist Austin has a great interest in site-specific installation work, and creating projects that engage and beautify spaces. His work incorporates bright colours in pursuit of charismatic energy and composition. This year Austin was selected for the Commercial Alley Project. He is also a showcased artist in Victoria’s Commute, exhibited work at the Arts Centre at Cedar Hill and has an upcoming show at Arc.hive.
