This mixed media installation examines suppressed emotions, dysmorphia, and internal healing using inspriration from both modern and ancient philosophies. Paintings inspired by the Jungian concept of the Shadow, skewed reflections via metallic surfaces, and mandalas produced during meditation combine to communicate the process of healing.
Artist’s Bio:
Karima Heredia Galvan, contributes the vibrancy of Mexico to the Victoria art community. With her scholarship-funding 2017 Diploma of Fine Arts from the Vancouver island School of Art she continues to explore the many facets of the human body. Through the medium of mixed media, she examines the physical, emotional, energetic and spiritual components of our body. Heredia’s mind-body connection considers her romantic relationships, family, culture and arduous brain tumour recovery. She recently exhibited her work in an art collection and continues to elevate the Victoria art scene with her personal flare.
