“Field Notes: Impressions from the Pacific“
November 9th – November 24th, 2024
Our third exhibition of the new season takes us on a mission of science and discovery with Field Notes; Impressions from the Pacific, opening on Friday, November 8th, 2024 from 6:30-8:30 pm.
Evoking the idea of a scientific journey as seen through the eyes of a marine scientist during their career, Wright uses her etching press to bring the marine realm onto paper. The subtitle is also a gentle play on words that describes the primary intaglio printing process developed by the artist to capture the striking textural details of marine organisms. In this exhibition, she composes her love letter to the beautiful and strange creatures that inhabit the watery realm of the Pacific Ocean, inviting you to share her awe and wonder.
Join us for an opening reception on November 8th from 6:30-8:30 p.m. She will be giving an artist talk on Sunday 17th at 1:00 p.m. and finally, there will be a Nature Printing workshop on Sunday November 24 from 12:00-3:00 p.m. Sign up for the workshop will be available only at the gallery. The workshop is limited to 12 participants. Materials will be supplied and all ages are welcome. The gallery will still be available for visits during the workshop.
