Xchanges is thrilled to announce a brand-new workshop this summer!
Learn how to monoprint gestural poses with Cindy Wright, accomplished printmaker and long-time Xchanges studio member.
If you enjoy life drawing, you will find this two-day workshop a great way to branch out with new techniques.
Using a model and both short and long gestural poses, artists will practise their line and mark making on Sumi-e paper in pencil and graphite. Later they will refine their images using ink transfer methods, which will then be mounted onto paper.
We will be exploring a variety of colour techniques and the use of nori paste as an adhesive to a range of paper types. With the longer poses, we will study subtractive methods, such as ink removal and working dark to white.
The learning goals are:
- Discover different ways to monoprint gestural poses.
- Practise life drawing in a more dynamic way, involving ink transfer and subtractive methods of inking.
- Find out how to use colour glazing in final prints.
- Be introduced to the use of nori paste as a means of creating chine collés or incorporating colour.

Saturday, July 27 and Sunday, July 28, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day
