One Step Sideways, Anna Curtin’s new body of work, continues her explorations into the essential importance of our attentiveness to the environment around us, using geometric shapes weaving in and out of a floating dissolvable background.

Curtin’s abstract series ‘Mountains and Rivers’ celebrates and examines her return to BC and the meaning of place. Combining her knowledge of GPS mapping, digital technology, and paint to harnesses the continual tension between chance and order, Curtin contrasts the seduction of technology with the softer, more subtle mechanics of landscape and body, and explores this disruption by evoking a pre-conceptual felt sense of nature.

“Sensations of being in the land experiencing the wind, rain, and sun continually touch me through memory.”
— Anna Curtin
