Footprints

an exhibition of work by Victoria artist Rachel Hellner

At Xchanges Gallery, 420 William Street (in Vic West between Wilson and Esquimalt Roads), March 04–20, 2005

Footprints is a collection of paintings that explores the sometimes damaging relationship between people and their environment, from the scars caused by countries at war to the marks people make on the natural world. Some of the pieces are made exclusively from scavenged materials into constructions the artist calls "Recycled Landscapes".

Five Paintings.

Born in London, England, Rachel is a graduate of Central St Martins College of Art and Design. She is currently completing her Masters at UVic and is teaching Art at the College of the Rockies in Cranbrook, BC. Rachel will donate a portion of the proceeds of her show to the Green Party of BC.
